This windmill was used to pump water on Oscar Strid’s farm in south Naperville during the 1900s. Windmills like this one provided a reliable water source for a family, pumping underground water to the surface to irrigate crops, water livestock, wash clothes, and cook meals. This windmill was moved to Naper Settlement in 1981.
