NS 09: Church Bell

Read

This church bell, cast in 1846 by the Meneely Bell Foundry of West Troy, New York, originally hung in Naperville’s Baptist Church. The City of Naperville later purchased the bell and installed it on top of the Reuss Building in downtown Naperville. The bell was eventually moved to the community’s first firehouse on Jefferson Avenue, where it signaled emergencies and warned young people of the town’s 9 p.m. curfew before it was moved to Naper Settlement in 1979.
