Amy Scheller joined the Naperville Fire Department in 1998, serving as a fire fighter and paramedic. She became the first female Fire Lieutenant in 2010 and the first female Deputy Chief in July 2019. Upon her promotion to Deputy Chief, she said, “We have some women in our department now and I would love for them to be motivated by some of the accomplishments I’ve had.” Scheller wants her leadership positions to encourage girls to pursue careers in fields that have been dominated by men in the past.
